Licensed & Insured Fast Turnaround Free On-Site Estimate Permit Assistance5.0 Stars

Whole-house demolition is a major undertaking that requires licensed expertise, detailed planning, and comprehensive debris management. TJ's Cleanouts holds Connecticut demolition and Home Improvement Contractor licenses and specializes in complete residential demolition for property redevelopment and land clearing.

Full-house demolition includes structural teardown, utility disconnection, foundation removal if desired, hazardous-materials assessment, and complete site restoration. We obtain all permits, coordinate with building departments, manage inspections, and handle final sign-off. Your property is left cleared and ready for new construction or alternative use.

This is a 2-4 week project depending on house size, soil conditions, and municipal requirements. We provide a detailed scope, equipment list, timeline, and fixed pricing upfront. No surprises, no hidden charges. Your property goes from occupied to cleared.

Whole-house demolition is quoted based on square footage, structural materials, soil conditions, equipment requirements, and whether foundation material is hauled. We provide a comprehensive estimate after full site inspection. Price is fixed; debris removal and site restoration are included.

Free site inspection and detailed estimate. We'll walk the full property and answer all your questions before you commit.

Our Process

01
Site Inspection & Demolition Plan

We thoroughly inspect the structure, assess soil conditions, identify hazardous materials, and plan equipment placement. A detailed demolition plan is created and submitted to the building department. Permits are applied for and approved (1-2 weeks).

02
Utility Coordination & Disconnection

Licensed specialists disconnect electrical service at the meter, gas at the meter, water at the main, and sewer at the clean-out. All utilities are capped to code. Disconnection permits are obtained from utility companies and the municipality.

03
Systematic Demolition & Debris Segregation

Roofing is removed first, then walls and framing are torn down methodically. Interior materials are sorted: metals to recyclers, clean wood to salvage centers, mixed waste to licensed facilities. Hazardous materials are handled by certified specialists.

04
Foundation Removal & Site Restoration

Foundation and concrete are broken, loaded, and hauled to disposal. Basement is excavated and filled with appropriate fill. Site is graded level, topsoil is added, and final inspection is scheduled. Your property is ready for the next phase.

Frequently Asked Questions

What permits are required for whole-house demolition?

Building/Demolition Permit, Environmental Permit (if applicable), utility-disconnect permits from the municipality and each utility company, and site-restoration permit. We obtain all permits. Most take 2-3 weeks to clear after application.

How long does it take to demolish a house?

1,000–1,500 sq ft home: 2-3 weeks. Larger homes (2,000+ sq ft): 3-4 weeks. Timeline depends on structural complexity, equipment access, soil conditions, and permit processing. We provide a detailed schedule during your estimate.

What if the house contains asbestos, lead paint, or hazardous materials?

Before demolition begins, we assess the structure for asbestos, lead paint, PCBs, and other hazardous materials. If found, we notify you and refer to certified abatement professionals. Their work is completed before our demolition begins. This is required by law and essential for safety.

Do you remove the foundation, or can it stay for future use?

Your choice. We can excavate and haul foundation and concrete debris, leaving a clear, level site. Or, foundation can remain in place and be covered if your plans involve future construction. We discuss this during planning and price accordingly.

How is debris managed at such a large scale?

Metal and copper are recycled at certified facilities. Clean wood goes to salvage centers or mulch operations. Drywall, roofing, and concrete go to licensed disposal. Mixed waste is sorted and disposed responsibly. All debris is hauled in-house using our equipment.

What about soil contamination or environmental issues?

We assess the site for obvious environmental issues during planning. If contamination is suspected or discovered, we refer to environmental specialists. Soil testing, remediation, and site restoration may require separate contractors and permits. We coordinate but don't perform specialized environmental work.
